The whole idea is that on #MedComms day there is no actual plan. All sorts of people working in and around MedComms get involved in many different ways. And do their own thing. Much of the activity won’t be reported on formally, but we collect a number of contributions here at MedCommsDay.com to give you a taste of what happens and you’ll find all sorts of activity over on Twitter and Linkedin and Instagram and elsewhere. Look for hashtag #MedComms.
We will, though, have some special events again, spanning the time zones, which anyone can join in with:
7th occasional Zoom meeting of New Zealand medical writers and guests
Date: 11.00 New Zealand Time, 09 June 2021 (note the time zone!)
It’s MedComms Day! Our occasional meetings of the New Zealand medical writers – and guests – have worked well and it’s now a tradition to run one to help kick off the celebrations for MedComms Day. Everyone is welcome. This is an informal group that has been facilitated by Peter Llewellyn who is based in the UK. We welcome medical writers and indeed anyone working in or around MedComms, whether based in New Zealand or not. Regulars attend from Australia and Japan and elsewhere.
At this meeting, all being well, the intention is then to hand over to Amanda Mao and Daniel McGowan who have volunteered to lead these meetings in future. They are well placed to lead relevant discussions and to respond to the local regional interests.
WEEKLY #MEDCOMMS WEBINAR
An exciting outlook for Medical Communications globally
Date: 12.00 UK time, 09 June 2021 (note the time zone!)
It’s MedComms Day! The MedComms sector is thriving. If anything the COVID-19 pandemic has shone a bright spotlight on the need for accurate, timely scientific exchange and how MedComms specialists can play a pivotal role in facilitating that activity. In this webinar we are joined by Charlie Buckwell, Global President of McCann Health Medical Communications and some of his colleagues to reflect on the journey that MedComms has taken to where we are today, to discuss current priorities and ponder future opportunities. And we answer questions from the audience.
MedComms Workbook Huddle – open to all on MedComms Day 2021
Date: 18.00 UK time, 09 June 2021 (note the time zone!)
We’ll be online at 18.00 (wine o’clock) UK time for a drink and a chat, and today we’ll happily raise a glass to celebrate MedComms Day 2021 with whoever turns up. Everyone welcome. Any discussions will primarily focus on freelance life in and around MedComms, but it will be very informal and we welcome all comers to join us. Nobody will mind if you have a toddler on your knees or a dog cuddling up close. Within reason! Please join us.
